Whether you require maintenance for a long established garden, or aftercare following the design and landscaping process, our team of gardeners are available to assist. We hand-weed, tidy, correctly prune and manage your garden to get the most from every season.

Lupin knows when to do the ‘Chelsea Chop’ for stronger perennials, how to summer prune an apple minarette and winter prune an apple tree. We understand the difference between an Omphalodes and an Ophiopogon, planting up colourful summer baskets and designing pretty winter planters to inject colour into the darkest months.

Lupin works sensitively and skillfully, sustaining, nourishing and maintaining your borders throughout the year and pruning to promote growth, flowering and fruit.

Our qualified team of gardeners are knowledgeable, reliable, thorough and friendly. Their garden maintenance skills are professional, seasonally appropriate and immaculate. Maintenance is offered on a regular or seasonal basis, and one-off tidy-ups can be arranged, as well as fruit and vine pruning.

Our skilled gardeners can advise on any aspect of plant and garden care. Be in complete control of your garden, enjoying the knowledge that it’s been immaculately and expertly tended.

We can also advise and recommend specialists for lawn renovation, and for larger work such as tree surgery.

Case Study - A Pretty Moseley Front Garden

We have maintained this garden since 2016, when it was remodelled by Avalon Landscapes and replanted by Lupin. It holds every element of a pretty cottage garden – roses, aquilegas, grasses, geraniums, stachys, heuchera, hebes, osteospernum and alpines, as well as a berrying rowan tree in the centre of the main border. It is south-facing, surrounded by a low hedge of cotoneaster, and the drive is covered by golden gravel.

This front garden is very much on show – on a popular Moseley road, near a school – and needs to look smart at all times. It’s not a large space, so we maintain this garden on a quarterly basis, using all the appropriate horticultural skills required to keep the roses looking fabulous, the herbaceous perennials flowering for as long as possible, and the space immaculate and pristine across the seasons.

We try to send the same gardener to our gardens each time, and their familiarity is always beneficial – they can give friendly garden advice to the householder, track plant problems, undertake seasonal duties and suggest solutions. Your garden will change, grow and adapt over time, and our gardeners are there to sustain and nurture it to the highest horticultural standards.

‘I am delighted with my beautiful garden, designed and planted by Lupin so it makes sense to use the same team to maintain it. The standard of care is excellent, ensuring that the plants thrive and garden continues to look lovely – all for a very reasonable cost. I recommend very highly indeed!’

Frequently Asked Questions

What maintenance services do you offer?

Our maintenance services include pruning, tidying and expert care to ensure your planting and borders are nourished and maintained throughout the year.

We do not offer lawn mowing services as most of our customers undertake this themselves, or utilise a local contractor for larger gardens. Similarly, for routine care of large hedges or trees, it is often cheaper and quicker to ask a tree surgeon to do this work once or twice a year. We can happily provide recommendations for these services if required.

What geographical areas do you cover?

For maintenance, we tend to cover South Birmingham only, though we do have a couple of exceptions. Most of our clients come to us through referrals and word of mouth, so we have a strong customer base in the following areas: Moseley, Kings Heath, Edgbaston, Harborne, Selly Oak, Selly Park, Bournville and Kings Norton. We are happy to consider other areas in and around Birmingham, so do contact us if you’d like to discuss maintenance.

What are the costs for garden maintenance?

For garden maintenance, we currently charge £140 +VAT for a five hour day. We can work longer days, at our hourly rate of £28 +VAT per hour, per gardener.

Do you offer regular maintenance as well as one-off tidy-ups?

Yes – we have many regular customers, and offer maintenance on a bi-weekly, monthly, six weekly, bi-monthly and quarterly basis. We are also available for one-off or seasonal tidy-ups.

Do you offer maintenance for commercial businesses?

No. We only work for private, domestic and residential customers.

What do you do with green waste?

We are not able to take your green waste away with us, and generally rely on our customers to organise Council Collection (green waste bins). We encourage home composting, and are happy to advise on getting started if needs be.

How can I schedule an appointment or get a quote?

For all new customer enquiries, we will need to see your garden and meet with you to discuss your requirements. You can call us to make an appointment, or send on online enquiry via our contact page.

Do you charge for completing a home visit?

All our initial consultations are free. Following that, we charge £28 + VAT per hour.
